Responsibilities:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior-level Engineer to manage and grow its engineering team to develop innovative solutions to address challenges to scale the insect industry and to deploy a network of insect bioconversion farms around the world. We are looking for excellent leadership abilities to oversee multiple company projects.
The portfolio of projects will cover:
Equipment Engineering: designing/ prototyping/ testing/ productizing/ commissioning/ maintenance for specialized insect rearing and breeding equipment, finding OEM manufacturers.
Process Engineering: specification and design of all processes; sourcing of standard equipment.
Facilities: preparing feasibility studies, designing and controlling construction and implementation, and finally commissioning plants.
You will provide engineering support along with project management duties for a variety of projects which may include planning studies, evaluation, design, and construction related activities for insect breeding, reproduction, production and transformation and related facilities. This includes helping decide where our next plants will be located at the very beginning of every one of our new development projects.
You will report to the Board of Directors (co-founders) of the company, leading our team of talented engineers team and in close collaboration with different external consultants.
Job Expectations:
Manage and execute work on insect farming facilities and systems planning, design, execution and commissioning.
Successfully manage and deliver projects on time and on budget.
Utilize internal project management tools and resources.
Lead technical research and be able to transform this knowledge into production processes.
Lead project teams in planning and/or designing a major engineering project and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies.
Make decisions and solve problems.
Optimize company resources and improve production and efficiency.
Manage the programs for technical training, operation documentation, certifications, etc.
Present solutions to clients or investors and for professional meetings
Lead the design work, follow up the implementation with subcontractors and O&M team.
Supervise, delegate and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers.
Assist with and lead business development pursuits.
Coach and mentor junior engineers and designers.
Desired Experience:
High education degree in Industrial/ Automation/ Mechanical/ Processing Engineering or equivalent, MSc is preferable.
At least 15 years of increasingly responsible, professional experience in the study, design, construction and administration of industrial plants, processes, and equipment and at least 5 years in leading or supervising teams. Experience in feed/ food/ pharma/ biotech industry will be considered as an asset.
Ability to successfully manage clients and projects in a collaborative fashion and interface with all Nasekomo’s team members
Previous business development experience (writing winning proposals and successfully pursuing work).
Understanding of multi-discipline aspects of infrastructure and industrial designs.
Strong project and program management skills.
Ability to focus on client needs while balancing multiple priorities including but not limited to project management, design, bidding, and management of construction and implementation services.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and preparation of written reports and documents.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Fluent English
Working conditions:
Office environment with travel to field sites, as required (National & International). Home office option available for a portion of time. Position based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Full time standard employment contract.
